Better Telecom Stock: AT&T vs. Verizon

Telecom companies are on a level with utilities in the eyes of most consumers these days. People generally pay their smartphone bills with as much regularity as they do their water, electricity, and gas bills. A smartphone with a data plan has become a necessity.

Because they are now a necessity to so many, AT (NYSE: T) and Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ), the two largest wireless carriers in the United States, are likely familiar to most consumers. And the two stocks are definitely familiar to most investors.
