With a market capitalization of well over $700 billion, it's fair to say that Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A)(NYSE: BRK.B) has a limited ability to produce the market-shattering returns investors associate with the name. However, Markel (NYSE: MKL) is a much smaller company with a similar business model that investors might want to take a closer look at.
