A stock that increases to 10 times the price you originally paid is often referred to as a 10-bagger, a phrase coined by highly successful mutual fund manager Peter Lynch. Having a 10-bagger stock in your portfolio is certainly something to celebrate, holding a 48-bagger stock in your portfolio is even more special.

Turns out, both of my kids have a 48-bagger investment in Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX), which they bought June 8, 2007, as shown in the chart below, which was created before this week's earnings report. My kids were just 8 and 10 years old at the time, and Netflix was a subscription DVD-by-mail company that had just started to stream movies online.
