Ad-Supported Alternatives Are Starting to Chip Away at Netflix's Dominance

It's not an existential crisis for the streaming giant -- at least not yet.

But worries that ad-supported streaming alternatives could eventually dent streaming players like Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) have just been legitimized. Data from streaming-subscription management platform Reelgood indicates that during the third quarter of this year, ReelGood's 2-million users watched relatively more ad-supported streaming television and watched less ad-free content from Netflix and Hulu.

Don't ignore the subtle hint buried in that data.
