Bonuses Are Getting Bigger This Year. Here’s How to Snag One

If you've come to rely on an annual work bonus to put a little extra cash in your hands, you may be in luck. According to staffing firm Accounting Principals, 63% of U.S. companies are planning to give out bonuses this year. But that's not the only piece of good news. The average 2017 bonus is expected to hit $1,797, up from $1,081 from the year prior. That's a roughly 66% increase, in case you were wondering.

Why the change? Though part of it has to do with companies meeting or exceeding projections, in many cases, getting a good bonus often boils down to personal performance on the job. Regardless of what your bonus looks like for the current year, here are a few tips for increasing that number in the future.
