Mastercard Research Indicates Sharp Rise in eCommerce, Abandonment of Cash

The coronavirus-racked global economy hasn't affected the move toward modern payment methods. At least that's what new research from finance-sector titan Mastercard (NYSE: MA) seems to indicate.

According to the company's SpendingPulse research unit, in findings published in a digest Thursday, there has lately been a dramatic increase in eCommerce, particularly in the U.S. This grew an extremely robust 93% on a year-over-year basis in May.
