Microsoft Earnings Defy the Pandemic

After gaining 4.5% during regular trading hours, shares of Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) rose after hours on Wednesday when it reported its fiscal third-quarter earnings. That period included March, a month in which much of the economy had to be shut down to contain the spread of COVID-19, as many turned to remote work and schooling.
