Sony Kicks Off Crucial Product Cycle with PlayStation 5 Launch
Sony's (NYSE: SNE) PlayStation 5 console hits the market today, marking the gaming giant's entry into the next-generation video game hardware cycle. The system's market debut comes just two days after Microsoft launched its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.
Sony has released two models of the PlayStation 5, one that sells at $500 and includes a disc drive, and one that sells at $400 and does not include a disc drive. Some listings for the premium version of the console are seeing bids in excess of $1,000 per unit on eBay.
