Worries about the broader economy sent the stock market broadly lower on Wednesday. Although the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI) eked out a small gain, the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) and S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) lost ground on the first day of the new month, continuing their downward momentum from February.
