Warren Buffett tends to be an upbeat kind of guy. And it's not just because he has amassed one of the greatest fortunes in the world. He's always been that way.

However, the legendary investor was decidedly gloomy in one part of his latest letter to Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) (NYSE: BRK.B) shareholders. You might even say that he sounded like an Old Testament prophet. Buffett issued a warning that every investor should heed.
