Why Amyris Stock Popped 12.5% on Monday

Shares of "clean health" biotech Amyris (NASDAQ: AMRS) made a clean sweep of the stock market Monday as its shares raced 12.5% higher after announcing a "transformative" deal with bakery ingredients supplier AB Mauri North America to market Amyris's zero-calorie sweetener.

The product, branded as "Purecane," is said to be derived from fermented sugarcane and is described as a "zero calorie, zero glycemic sweetener that can be used as part of a better-for-you diet to reduce the intake of sugar, calories and carbohydrates."
