Why GameStop Stock Popped Then Dropped Today

Shares of GameStop (NYSE: GME) opened 13.5% higher today, but by 10:15 a.m. EST, the stock was in negative territory. There was no news out on the stock today. Rather, the movement seemed to be the now-regular ebb and flow of traders on WallStreetBets and elsewhere looking to capitalize on the stock's volatility and perhaps spark another short squeeze , though that seems much less likely now.

As of 1:54 p.m EST, shares of the video game retailer were down 6.7%.
