Why Gannett Stock Was Climbing Today

Shares of Gannett (NYSE: GCI) were moving higher today as the company seemed to get a boost from news that rival Tribune Publishing (NASDAQ: TPCO), the publisher of newspapers including the Chicago Tribune and New York Daily News, may be acquired.

As a result, Gannett, which is the biggest newspaper publisher in the country, was up 14.3% as of 11:15 a.m. EST, while Tribune had gained 9.4%.
