Why It Pays to Update Your Income on Your Credit Cards

When you first apply for a new credit card, there's certain information you provide, like your name, Social Security number, and income. A credit card issuer uses that information, along with your credit score, to determine whether you qualify for a card, and if so, what your spending limit is.

But you may notice that from time to time, your credit card issuer asks you to update your income. But do you have to? And does it really make a difference?
