Will Offering Less Save These Bar and Grill Chains?

Americans have been less willing to eat good in the neighborhood or to pepper in some fun. Both Ruby Tuesday (NYSE: RT) and Brinker International's (NYSE: EAT) Chili's have struggled to lure customers, a problem that has also faced DineEquity's (NYSE: DIN) Applebee's brand.

All three chains plan to tackle the problem in the same way: They are going to cut their menus and offer less choice. It's rare that any company's efforts to grow its business involves having less to sell, but in these three cases, the chains may benefit from a less is more strategy.
