AKKA Technologies presents POLLUX, its mobile app for the
management of electric vehicle charging,
at the NESEM 2013 conference in Toulouse
Lyon, 25 September 2013 – The AKKA Technologies Group, a European leader in the field of Engineering and Technology Consultancy, presents its mobile apps expertise and technological innovations at the NESEM 2013 conference held from 25 to 26 September in Toulouse. Among its innovations, the Group presents the POLLUX project, a consumer mobile app for electric vehicle management.
POLLUX: an innovative, useful, practical application:
POLLUX, (Process Oriented Electronic Control Units for Electric Vehicles developed on a Multi-System Real-Time Embedded Platform), is a project aimed at establishing design standards for the next generations of electric vehicles (2015-2020).
The app can be used on the iPhone, iPad and Android. It enables the charging of an electric vehicle to be controlled remotely and programmed based on requirements. The user can, for example, order the recharging of his car, already connected to a recharging terminal, for a specified time and predefined distance, without going anywhere or being in the vicinity. The user can thus recharge the vehicle in his garage while he is hundreds of miles away …
This mobile app for electric vehicles enables, for example, complete management of the charging process:
o Remote control of the charging process (start/stop)
o Monitoring of the process with automatic alerts
o Compatibility with the iPhone, iPad and Android
o Possibility of geo-positioning
A complete technical project with European support:
Among the 35 partners (CEA, Continental, ST, PSA, etc.), the European Community has assigned AKKA Technologies the task of designing and developing the POLLUX app via a project supported by the European Commission and co-financed by ARTEMIS.
AKKA Technologies is responsible for the following technical functions:
o Drafting of the HMI monitoring/control specifications
o Ergonomic study for mobile platforms (smart phones / tablets)
o Graphic design for a consumer app
o Development of the apps in native iOS and multi-platform language
o Development of servers enabling the mobile apps to interface with test rigs
o Drawing up of test programmes
Expertise in software and connected vehicles:
AKKA Technologies' role in the project is to work on two of the six demonstrators, mainly on Continental's charging system and PSA's test rig.
This innovation enables the AKKA Technologies Group to highlight its software expertise and offer solutions which can be transferred to a number of business sectors.
AKKA has, therefore, been able to demonstrate its full added value in the field of connected vehicles and the electric vehicle charging network:
o Business segment: Group's own demonstrator with an embedded energy management system
o Technology: design and development of cross-platform consumer mobile apps
o Rapid and efficient skills enhancement
