Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to report that the Lyon Administrative Appeal Court today rendered a decision rejecting the appeal to cancel Olympique Lyonnais' construction permit for the new stadium.

This decision confirms the Lyon Administrative Court's decision concerning the construction permit, rendered on 20 December 2012.

Coming soon after the 11 June 2013 rejection of three petitions concerning the Stade des Lumières' “public interest” declaration, this new decision confirms the project's legitimacy and is testimony to its importance and the active role it will play in regional development and in the development of facilities dedicated to French sports.

The Stade des Lumières is a project serving residents of all of Greater Lyon. It will create 2,500 jobs during construction and 1,500 during operation, and it will give Greater Lyon the most advanced sports, training, healthcare access, leisure, cultural and artistic facilities.

Construction can begin as soon as the financing agreements are signed, which they should be by the end of July. This will enable the stadium to be delivered during the 2015-16 season and the city of Lyon to potentially host several matches during the Euro 2016 football competition, including the opening match and one of the semi-finals.
