Just 3 of the "Magnificent Seven" Have Outperformed the S&P 500 Since 2022. Here's the One I'd Buy for 2024 and 2025.
The S 500 has produced a total return of over 20% for investors in 2023, but that growth has come almost entirely from just a handful of stocks.
The "Magnificent Seven" -- Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) and Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) -- have produced market-trouncing returns in 2023. And since they all have massive market caps, they have had an outsize impact on the cap-weighted S 500 index.
But just three of those seven have produced returns exceeding the S 500's total return (a 1% loss) since the start of last year. The other four have all lost more money for investors than a simple S 500 index fund.
