Better Cathie Wood Gaming Stock: Roblox vs. Skillz
Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) and Skillz (NYSE: SKLZ) are both high-growth gaming companies that went public without filing traditional IPOs.
Roblox, which provides a platform for creating and sharing games with a simple block-based system, went public via a direct listing this March. Skillz, which provides a multiplayer platform for mobile games, went public by merging with a SPAC last December.
Cathie Wood, the growth investor who mainly invests in disruptive companies for her family of ARK Invest ETFs, accumulated stakes in both companies. As of this writing, Roblox and Skillz account for 0.8% and 1.9%, respectively, of the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF's (NYSEMKT: ARKW) holdings. Skillz also accounts for 0.4% of Wood's flagship ARK Innovation ETF's (NYSEMKT: ARKK) holdings.
