Leading North American steelmaker Nucor (NYSE: NUE) provided third-quarter earnings guidance for investors just two weeks before the end of the reporting period. So when the company announced it missed the lower end of the range by $0.02 per diluted share with net earnings of $7.28, some investors reacted quickly by selling the stock.
