GameStop, AMC Jump Again in Friday Pre-Market Trading
The stock market looked poised for a lower opening on Friday morning, as stock futures markets were broadly lower. As of shortly before 9 a.m. EST, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI) were down about 150 points, or 0.5%. S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) futures were lower by 14 points, or 0.4%, while Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) futures fell about 0.5%, or 60 points.
As we've seen for much of the week, though, investors continued to watch huge moves in shares of heavily short-sold stocks. GameStop (NYSE: GME), AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE: AMC), and other stocks made big moves on Friday morning, jumping in pre-market trading to recapture some of their lost ground from Thursday. Below, we'll look at the latest moves and the tug of war between individual investors and Wall Street institutions that's lurking behind them.
