Here's Why a Deal With IBM Has Palantir Stock Surging

Palantir (NYSE: PLTR) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced a major partnership today. The deal will see IBM offer Palantir's technologies as part of its cloud data services, and it could dramatically expand the newly-public data analytics company's sales reach.

Palantir stock jumped 10% at market open today and closed with a 5.9% gain. IBM's stock gains from the announcement have been more muted, with Big Blue's share price up 1.5% at the close.
