Digital human social workers to provide key HIV and healthcare advice across Eastern Europe

UNITH has been awarded a contract from leading international foundation, Alliance for Public Health (APH), to develop a digital social worker to improve access to public health advice in Eastern Europe. The AI-powered digital human social workers will be deployed through UNITH’s AI platform to serve as an online point-of-contact for inbound healthcare enquiries. Drawing information from medically approved sources, interpreted with GPT technology and integrated into existing social services, the digital humans will be available 24/7 and respond in real-time with the most relevant information.

The digital human will reduce burden on live social workers and allow them to focus on individualised tasks. UNITH’s digital human will have the ability to escalate the interaction to a live person should the inquiry be identified as greater urgency or higher risk.

Courtesy of the low bandwidth requirements for UNITH’s platform, the digital human social worker is expected to be accessible from remote locations with limited internet speeds and older devices, aiming to make public health information more accessible.

The 1-year contract, with an option for a 5-year extension, was awarded to UNITH via a public tender process and is valued at USD$111,000 (approximatelyAUD$164,000). The digital human social worker is expected to be deployed by June 2024.

Commenting on the contract win, UNITH CEO Idan Schmorak said: “We are delighted to deliver this public healthcare project where digital humans will play a major role in reducing the burden on healthcare workers and their employers, who are often under-resourced. Our AI-Powered digital humans will provide the same response as healthcare workers, and they will be available around the clock.

This is a terrific opportunity to maximise the accessibility of healthcare information while relieving pressure and expenses on the health system using AI. We believe there is great potential in the use of AI-enabled health advice across the public and private healthcare around the world. Our digital humans can provide consistent and reliable advice without a delay.”

APH aims to reduce the spread of infections and deaths and minimise the negative impact of epidemics by supporting public responses and promoting effective prevention and treatment approaches in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The digital human social worker will be launched in 14 countries:  Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.  Users will be able to interact via voice or text in their native language with UNITH’s Digital Human platform which is already equipped to generate conversational AI in more than 60 languages.

UNITH enters another new vertical with a digital human insurance agent

UNITH is also pleased to confirm it has been engaged by start-up insurance company Ensureing to provide a digital human for customer support on Ensureing’s website and platforms. UNITH’s digital human will perform tasks on behalf of an insurance agent, increasing productivity and reducing staff costs.

The initial one-month contract, valued at USD$6,500 (approximately AUD$10,000), will include the development of a virtual assistant for showcasing Ensureing to potential clients and investors. The virtual assistant will be able to have guided conversations based on Ensureing’s knowledge bank. The initial agreement can be upgraded to commercial software licence at any time.
