American Express (NYSE: AXP), Capital One (NYSE: COF), and Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS), three of the major credit card players on Wall Street outside of the megabanks, are set to report third-quarter earnings later this month. It will be interesting to see how these consumer-facing businesses held up during a quarter that didn't always seem to move in a linear fashion. There were setbacks due to the delta variant but also a recovering economy, depending on where you were domestically and internationally.
