Paris, France, 26 November 2012 – Steria, a leading provider of IT-enabled business services, today announces that it has won a contract with the Swedish statistics authority Statistiska centralbyrån to manage the IT infrastructure in its datacentre and provide IT service desk support. Steria will work alongside the organisation to increase IT efficiency, improve stability and reduce costs.

The deal is worth an estimated 65 million Swedish crowns (around € 9 million) over four years.

The agreement will bring increased IT stability to the organisation as well as significant cost-savings. The project will be executed in two phases with the first phase due to start on the 1st March 2013 and the second on 1st July 2013. Steria will be working closely alongside Statistiska centralbyrån to recruit in the Orebro region of Sweden to fill the necessary positions, boosting the local economy.

Gertrud Hammelin, Head of unit for infrastructure and planning at Statistiska centralbyrån, comments, “We were looking for a partner that could deliver cost efficiency and flexible resourcing to support both IT service desk staffing and manage the core IT infrastructure. Steria has been very transparent about the costs of running our datacentre. We look forward to drawing on Steria's expertise to further develop and improve our processes to increase our IT stability and effectiveness. This means we will be able to free up resources to focus on more strategic IT initiatives to make ongoing improvements in the way we operate.”

Anders Fryxell, CEO of Steria Sweden, continues, “Having a solid IT backbone is essential to the work being carried out at Statistiska centralbyrån which plays a critical role in Swedish society. It is a real honour to have earned the confidence of the organisation to manage its critical IT support functions. We are also very pleased to be working alongside Statistiska centralbyrån to recruit within the region and help play a role in improving the local economy.”
