Die Krise in den Hauptabnehmerbranchen Automobil und Maschinenbau machten dem Augsburger Konzern KUKA schwer zu schaffen. Trotzdem schnitt der SDAX-Konzern dabei noch besser ab wie die Konkurrenz. Mit seiner Entwicklung lag KUKA über der im Verband der deutschen Maschinen- und Anlagenbauer (VDMA) zusammengefasste Branche. Das Ziel für das laufende Jahr heißt weiter Kosten senken. Dabei könnten zwei neue (alte) Bekannte helfen. Ein Jahr nach ihrer Kündigung kehren Bernd Liepert und Martin Sträb zurück ins Unternehmen. Die geschassten Manager waren wegen angeblicher Verstöße gegen interne Verhaltensregeln entlassen worden. Liepert wird als neuer Technik-Chef und Sträb als Leiter der Marketing-Abteilung fungieren.
