Nkwe und Xstrata führen derzeit gemeinsam eine bankfähige Machbarkeitsstudie auf dem Garatau Projekt im Norden Südafrikas und auf dem Tubatse Projekt im Süden des Landes durch. Man will zwei Minen mit einer gesamten Jahresproduktion von mehr als 1 Mio. oz PGM aufbauen. Die Mineralbasis beider Projekte beträgt mehr als 100 Mio. oz PGM und Gold.
Nkwe kann sich durch die potentielle Größe und Qualität seiner PGM Projekte sowie durch das Jointventure mit Xstrata zu einem unabhängigen PGM-Produzenten entwickeln. Das Unternehmen nutzt dabei auch unabhängige oder in Jointventures betriebene Schmelz- und Raffinierungsanlagen.
