Novagold ist mit Barrick Teilhaber an dem Donlin Projekt. Das Vorkommen wird auf 39 Mill. Unzen geschätzt (measured and indicated resources) und der Goldgehalt wird mit 2% angegeben. Das sind gute Voraussetzungen für eine erfolgreiche Erschließung des Vorkommens. Weltweit werden solche große Lagerstätten knapp, so dass für die Anteilseigner von Novagold ein ordentlicher Profit möglich ist. Die Lagerstätte liegt auf politisch sicherem Gebiet in Alaska.
