Steria tops Sustainability Index

Paris, France, 16 October 2012 - Steria, a leading provider of IT-enabled business services, today announces that it has ranked number one in the Gaia Index among medium size companies listed on the Paris Stock Exchange for sustainability. Ranked number one in the services sector, Steria also claims first position amongst medium sized companies with a turnover of over 500 million euros.

The Gaia Index is the first ‘Socially Responsible Index' (SRI) for French small to medium size companies. Created in 2009, the Index comprises 70 of the best companies in the sustainability field, selected according to a strict set of environmental, social and governance criteria from a group of 230 companies listed on the Paris Stock Exchange. The Index's assessment methodology enables external stakeholders to determine companies' performance relating to sustainable development, a key indicator that is gaining importance in investment criteria and in the selection of suppliers.

Steria has been listed in the Gaia Index for the third consecutive year. Earlier this year, Steria received recognition from not-for-profit organisation The Carbon Disclosure Project for the Group's exemplary efforts in combating global warming and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
